When color is a problem in your pattern

Hello, pattern lovers! Today I’d like to talk about colors. This is not the first time I do it here in Pattern We Trust, in fact I have two previous posts related to color: this one (about common mistakes when designing patterns) and this one about finding your color palette. But today I wanted to write a post about when color is a problem in your pattern, or much better said: when color is the only problem in your pattern. Did this happen to you lately? Let’s see 3 usual problems you may be experiencing and what you can do to solve them:

Pattern design for sweets and pastry packaging

Hello pattern designers! Today I’d like to talk about the most important aspects of designing patterns in a packaging project for sweets or pastry items. Maybe by designing this, we’re not so close to textile design, but much, much closer to graphic design. Anyway…who doesn’t want to get involved in one of these projects? It’s not only an interesting project itself to develop, but it allows us to combine two of the things everybody loves the most: good design and sweets! So, if a client asks you to design a collection of patterns for her/his packaging or, if you are the owner of a pastry/sweets business, then these 5 aspects I’m sharing might interest you:

Brando Studio

Hello pattern and design lovers! Today I’d like to tell you about how I knew Jair Domínguez, director of Brando Studio, a unique digital textile printing house in Cancun, Mexico. Everything started last year, when prestigious Pattern Observer blog featured some of my patterns (you can see the feature here). Jair saw my works and contacted me because he wanted to have one of my designs in a very cool swimwear collection for men (you can see the result above, in one of the images of this post today). What can I say? I immediately fell in love with it the first time I saw the picture! It was great for me to see my work printed with such fine quality and finishings.
