Hello pattern lovers! Recently I have been taking a look at www.vogue.es catwalks from the Paris Fashion Week, and I found some interesting prints and patterns for A/W 17-18 I’d like to share today. I wanted this quick overview was pure inspiration for us pattern designers, illustrators and designers in general: you’ll see amazing color palettes, type of motifs, original combinations… I selected the most beautiful examples for you. Would you like to take a look? 😉
Hello, pattern lovers! I would love to show you some tips you can use for your own work, specially when you are doodling. We all pattern designers spend quite a time doodling, exploring different and unusual -barely seen- ways of drawing objects and motifs. That, in a sense, is one of our professional challenges: to discover new ways of interpreting visually what we see around (from nature, or our homes, our reality) and put it into prints and patterns. In other words, we have to design with our own style, while using refreshing ways of expressing what our eyes catch everyday.
¿Have you ever fallen in love with a spoon? Haven’t you? Well, maybe this will be your first time. Because when you see the work of Micazuki, you can not help it. I knew Micazuki several years ago, while I was visiting Granada, the province of the Great Alhambra, in Spain. There was a little Artisan Design Fair going on in a public square and suddenly my eyes saw these cute, and “kawaiiesque” spoons and accesories… and I could never forget them! I kept their card and I have been following their work since then.
Hello, pattern lovers! I have been away from posting these last weeks because of the holidays, and the celebrations that everybody knows… been very busy. Hello pattern lovers! I would like to talk about a well-known visual tool for designers today: Pinterest. It’s like impossible not to use it from time to time (or everytime). When your searches are about “design”, “pattern design”, “textile design”, “fashion”, “surface design” and “illustration”, what Pinterest gives you is always very beautiful, interesting, creative images that can certainly inspire you.
Hello, pattern lovers! I was very luck to be in Pinta En Copas (the closest translation would be Paint in Cups), a cosy and creative little place in Madrid, a few days ago. A good friend of mine told me to go with her and, since I didn’t know anything about this place, I thought it’d be fun to go and discover it for myself. I have been there and I had so much fun that I now have to tell you about the experience for you to go too, if you, of course, live nearby, or if you are planning to come to Madrid soon 😉
Hello, pattern lovers! Today I would like you to know a special surface design studio, based in Paris, that I love. Today it’s turn for Minakani.
This cool studio founded by Cecile Figuette and Frederic Bonnin has been working with leading fashion companies, luxury and sport labels and more confidential creative brands for ten years now: Anthropologie, Kenzo, La Redoute, Le Sportsac, Oxbow, Organic Stereo and Chez Monoprix.
Good morning, pattern&art lovers! Are you looking for good inspiration? Do you need fresh ideas for your designs and you feel a little blocked today? I will tell you about an artist I suddenly found some time ago, while visiting Pinterest: her name is Yellena James. I think I love everything about her art: not only the shapes, but the colours, the sensations, atmosphere she creates, the femininity and delicacy it expresses. I would cover an entire huge wall with her organic worlds and I would never get tired of looking at it.
Autumnal colours and textures right now… what a lovely combination for designing!. I took these pictures yesterday afternoon, after deciding to get some inspiration from the surroundings… Hope this inspires you for your lovely patterns to come!
